Sworn and Notarised Translation

At the request of the client, IBE is able provide the following additional services:

  • Sworn Translations: the procedure in which a professional translator declares, in front of a tribunal functionary, that the translated document is accurate and corrisponds faithfully to the original document. A sworn translation is formally verified for official use and the translated document retains its legality also in the destination language. Documents that require certification include certificates of birth, death, marital status and university degrees as they are often required as legal proof of status by employers, insurance companies and government authorities.
  • Notarised Translations: the attestation of a sworn translation by a notary or the Chancellor of the Tribunal who affixes his or her seal to the translation, thus legalising the document by attesting to its accuracy and its legal validity, in Italy and abroad.

Sworn and notarised translations are public acts of responsibility by the Chancellor of the Tribunal.

Translators must present in person the translated document with the original text and the compiled Tribunal form.

Translations from one foreign language to another are not permitted: only translations via Italian are allowed.

Under Tribunal directives, a stamp duty of €14.62 must be paid for every 100 lines of text starting from the first page and including the certificate of sworn translation.
